Can parents attend the Filmmonsters party?
Absolutely. We encourage parents to use the children's filmmaking time to socialize with other parents or help out with production. Parents may chat in a separate room or discretely be a part of the crew.

Can boys throw a Filmmonsters party?
Absolutely. What a great way to inspire your son to be the next Steven Spielberg. We'll find a plot that really inspires him.

Can parties include mixed groups of boys and girls and children of different ages?
Definitely. Mixing ages and boys and girls gives diversity and a wider range of characters. It can really add to the realism of a story. You may include siblings if the Birthday Child doesn't mind.

Can I invite the entire class? My child's school has strict Birthday party policies.
Unfortunately, very large groups do not work for this kind of party. Please limit the number of children to thirteen. It is difficult to balance participation time with a large group. We want everyone to shine. Large groups get distracted and noisy. They can stall the filmmaking process.

When should I feed the guests?
It is best to feed the children before filmmaking begins. After the film has wrapped, Filmmonsters will document your Birthday Cake Ceremony. We strongly discourage feeding children snacks or food during the filmmaking process. Children get very distracted. It hinders production and soils the costumes. We understand parents want to be good hosts, but we appreciate parents doing all they can to keep the movie on track.

How should I decorate?
1. You can use the movie's theme. You can bring leaves or branches inside to make a forest or use fabrics to make grand curtains for a ballroom.
2. You can create a vintage Hollywood theme complete with berets, director's chairs, movie reels, a director's megaphone, spotlights, a red carpet and clapboard seating cards.
3. My personal favorite is balloon bunches and simple handmade signs!

I want to give out party favors and goody bags.
Copies of the film will not be available for distribution on the day of the party, however, we do have Filmmonsters T-shirts, Canvas Bags, Note Cards, Pencils and other goodies for the bags. Ask about these additional features when booking an event.

Do you provide invitations for the party?
We can custom print and hand stamp block print invitations, RSVP cards and envelopes for an additional $10 per guest. Hosts may create their own electronic or personal invitations using our Filmmonsters logo.

When should I expect the final DVD copies?
Final copies will be completed 3 to 4 weeks after the date of the party. Please do not promise the DVDs to children or parents before this date. Patience is greatly appreciated during the editing process. Due to the technical and creative nature of the process, it is important that we give each project great care. Please feel free to check in during week 3 to make arrangements for delivery of final copies.

Is my 6 year old child too young for this kind of party?
We teach children ages 2 to 18. Younger children are so creative and so ambitious. A six year old understands stories and characterization thanks to the books you read them and the movies they watch. Let us bring out the filmmaker and actor in them.

Can parents act in the Filmmonsters movies?
Parents often get cast in the children's films. You can even book a Parents and Children Filmmaking Party. However, it will be the most rewarding if you let the children have complete creative control.

Do you only host parties in New York City?
We easily commute to New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut. If you provide accommodations and flights for 2 adults, we will happily commute anywhere in the United States for no additional fee.
